AWS Cloud Engineer

This is a highly rewarding career opportunity to explore if you’re seeking an end-to-end Snr AWS Cloud Engineer (Infrastructure) position working with a fun and friendly team and supporting all things AWS Cloud Services, along with managing and supporting Microsoft Infrastructure technologies and MongoDB database.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining the operational effectiveness of Infomedia’s systems/networks
  • Providing specialist services in relation to implementing, managing, operating and supporting the Cloud Services across Infomedia.
  • Working within the IT Infrastructure delivery team dealing directly with end-users, business stakeholders and Technology Lead’s.
  • Build out a secure, reliable and scalable network architecture in the AWS cloud.
  • Automation of a repetitive task
  • Building a new capability to empowers our users
  • Responding to an incident and then writing the post-mortem with action items on how to prevent reoccurrence
  • Helping define the roadmap for the team
  • Contributing and fixing bugs in upstream open source projects such as nginx
  • Abstracting network complexity from our users to streamline their Cloud experience
  • Writing a design document to help decide on a solution to a specific problem the team is facing
  • Collaborating with other teams to ensure that the platform is appropriately supported by the network & Log infrastructure.

  • Design, build and support new Infrastructure technologies and services, with a focus towards “automation” (PowerShell and Python scripting) and DevOps (AWS).
  • Ensure documentation and procedures are always up to date.
  • Front line support of the Microsoft Exchange, Windows, Office 365, MongoDB database, Centos and AWS cloud environments.
  • Implementing new databases and associated objects.
  • Monitoring and reporting on database service availability.
  • Performing backup and recovery of corporate databases.
  • Liaising with development team to confirm requirements for system, backup and other requirements.
  • Taking ownership of Windows issues escalated to 3rd line support.
  • Contributing to the development of operational procedures.
  • Producing and acting on security violation reports.
  • Testing, implementing, monitoring and tuning networking software/hardware to ensure optimum systems performance and highlight potential issues.
  • Providing telephone and face to face technical support to users regarding Desktop issues.
  • Following agreed procedures, respond to user requests for technical assistance remotely and face to face.
  • Ability to work independently without referral back to Team Leader.

Skills & experience required:

  • Experience with common AWS network services (VPC and VPC peering, Transit Gateway, VPN)
  • Knowledge of IP, DNS, TCP, TLS and Network/HTTP load balancing
  • OSI Layer 2 to Layer 7 fundamentals
  • Knowledge of proxies and Experience implementing methods to secure an IP network
  • Good coding and OOP skills either with Python or Java
  • Experience with multi-region network architecture
  • Experience with CDNs and WAFs (Cloudflare or others)
  • Experience monitoring cloud networks at scale
  • Proven experience working in an Infrastructure Systems Engineer / Cloud Systems Administration type role.
  • A passion for building future state technology stacks and environments.
  • Automation and scripting skills in both Powershell and Python
  • Public Cloud and production experience working with AWS Cloud Services, (EC2, CloudFormation, AWS Systems Manager, Containers, etc..).
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office 365 (migration, design and deployment).
  • · Well-developed skills in MongoDB database system.
  • Exposure to MongoDB database operations and design.
  • Hands on experience of supporting and troubleshooting virtualised installations / cloud environments.
  • Microsoft, MongoDB and AWS certifications preferred e.g AWS – Solution Architect Associate, Microsoft MCP, MCSE, MongoDB DBA Associate, etc.
  • Effective trouble-shooter.
  • Good communication skills.

Desirable Skills:

  • MSSQL / MySQL
  • Centos 6&7 / Linux
  • AWS CDN CloudFront etc.
  • DevOps Tools – GitHub, CircleCI, CFS, NewRelic etc..

Qualifications:

At least 5-7 years of commercial experience in IT/Systems Engineering coupled with professional qualifications in Computer Science or Electronics Engineering. Will typically hold or be working toward an MCSE, AWS, MongoDB technical qualification.
